New Agencies Working with GTI

I am excited to announce several new agencies that I have had the pleasure to work with and are new to GTI. In June we are honored to travel to Fairbury, NE to bring our Immediate Action Teams Class to 30 officers who work near the area of Jefferson County. A very special thank you to Deputy Chief Matt Schultz, who since November of 2010, has been working hard to chase funding and make this class happen.

In August we are scheduled to travel to Pittsburgh, PA to meet up with the fine officers from Region 13 for another IAT class. Special thanks to Steve Kontaxe and William Krulac for making this happen.

In September we travel to Exeter, PA for a seven day basic Swat Class. Special thanks to Chief Christopher Neidert, who since Jan 2011, has been working tirelessly to get this training for his department.

Also a special thanks to our agencies that have been part of the GTI family for quite a while now. A Special Thank You! to Lincoln County KS, Santa Ana CA Police, Delaware Emergency Management, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Knox County TN EMA.

Are We Prepared?  A Chilling Scenario.

Peter N. Spagnolo
June 7, 2011 by Peter N. Spagnolo

When American commandos took Osama bin Laaden out in early May of this year, they also conducted as thorough a search of the compound as the situation allowed. Among the most interesting pieces of intelligence collected in this operation were documents strongly leading US antiterrorism authorities to believe that Osama was, up to the last days of his life, encouraging his adherents to conduct armed attacks on targets within the borders of the United States. These attacks would probably be along the lines of the November 2008 attacks in Mumbai, which, over three violent days, claimed the lives of some 164 innocents. The terror attacks in Mumbai consisted of ten separate, but coordinated attacks; they were well planned and executed. Osama exhorted his followers to conduct small-scale attacks with firearms. It appears that the aircraft attacks of 911 were too costly, took too many resources and too much time to plan.

While these attacks were spectacular, Osama believed that smaller attacks, in smaller US cities would have an even more dramatic impact on the citizens of the United States.

Homeland Security Funding for GTI Classes

What do Santa Ana CA Police, Rapides Parish Sheriff LA, Delaware State Police, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, Knox County TN, Ada County Sheriff ID, Virgin Islands Police, Georgia Emergency Management Agency, to name a few, all have in common? They all have used DHS funding to pay tuition to attend GTI classes!

Did you know that Homeland Security Funding can be used to pay for GTI Classes and in some cases fund a complete class made up of regional agencies? Since 2005, I have worked with both large and small state and local agencies to access DHS funds that are passed down to them from the federal government. If your agency is in need of Active Shooter, Swat, or IED Awareness Classes, feel free to contact me at anytime! I would love to assist you in finding available funds that you can access to attend our classes or have a mobile training team bring them to your jurisdiction.
