Peter N Spagnolo

GTI Sr. Terrorism & Military Instructor, Peter Spagnolo, has been accepted into the International Development PhD Program at University of Southern Mississippi. This challenging four year doctorate program will require intensive research overseen by professors who specialize in various subfields of political science and will further Instructor Spagnolo's ambitions to ensure homeland safety and the development of the Middle East while providing the highest level of law enforcement and military training instruction to GTI students everywhere.

Mr. Spagnolo is a Fellow of the Academy of Political Science (APS), a prestigious organization that promotes objective, scholarly analyses of domestic and foreign policy issues.
Top Student Awarded A Generation II Target System

Generation II Target
Corporal Eric Daniels of the Delaware State Police was named the "Top Student" during his participation in GTI's Type 3 SWAT course. He won a Gen II Target System. Nice work Corporal Daniels!
The Generation II Target System features a 3/8" Armor Plate Steel (harder than AR500) and includes Base, Stanchion, Large (sniper) hostage head. The plate face can be switched to other side to keep a very clean face plate for close pistol work. Capable of thousands of rounds. Ballastic Details:

.308 capable @ 25 yards (no military hardened core ammo)
.223 capable @ 25 yards with JSP or HP ammo
.223 capable @ 100 yards with FMJ
Capable of all handgun ammo

***We do not recommend firing any ammo at distances closer than 15 yards (due to bullet splash)***

New Lecture Series

Introduction to Terrorism
The Government Training Institute's Introduction to Terrorism is an 8 hour lecture course designed for first responders and their supervisors, giving them an insight to the methodology, mindset, and tactics used by terror organizations around the world.

The class is taught by GTI's Senior Terrorism Instructor, Peter N Spagnolo, who brings his real world experience from counter terrorism operations in Kuwait, Kenya, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. During his active duty, Mr. Spagnolo has made an extensive study of terrorism as it relates to the Middle East and, more importantly, the root causes of the discontent among many Middle Easterners that lead to terrorist acts.

Topics covered include:
  • Threat of terrorism to US cities of all sizes without regard to traditional "high value" targets.
  • Threat of terrorism to US and international business.
  • Terrorist views about US culture and government.
  • Types of terror groups, goals, tactics, techniques.
  • Indicators that a facility or structure is being evaluated as a potential terror target.
  • Observe and report.
  • The phenomenon of suicide terrorism.
    • Characteristics of a suicide actor
    • Indications of an impending suicide strike
    • Techniques that have proven successful in dealing with a suicide actor
    • Recovery from a strike
      • Secondary attacks
      • Terrorists traps for first responders
  • Expect the unexpected.
  • Analyzing your strengths and weaknesses.
  • Taking reports from citizens and other sources seriously.
  • Indications of IED assembly/production.
