Sneak Peak into New Products at SHOT Show 2019 January 16, 2019 By Dave Young (YoungBuckDave) With SHOT Show 2019 right around the corner there are already a couple of companies that have made announcements about new products they will be releasing at that time. SHOT Show is one of the largest conventions for all firearm, tactical, hunting, outdoors, and shooting sport companies. These companies travel from around the world to Las Vegas, Nevada to showcase all of their products along with new product releases they can unveil to the masses. With all of the attendees and media that attend SHOT Show there is no better time for these companies to announce what they have in store for the upcoming year. A few companies, though, have already announced that they will be adding to their product line by releasing photos and specs during SHOT Show. This month I am going to give you a sneak peak into what Glock, ZEV Tech, and Mossberg have announced they will be adding to their product line up. First, I am going to start off with the two new pistols Glock announced that they will be adding to their Slimline category of handguns, both chambered in 9MM. The first pistol is the G43X which was designed to give the people what they wanted after Glock listened to the complaints people had when they initially released the G43. The complaints were that the grip was too small for many people. The G43X has the exact same barrel length of the G43 (3.41 inches) but offers users a full-size grip with a 10rd single stack magazine. The height included with the magazine is actually the same size as a Glock 19 (5.04 inches) just slimmed down. The other handgun Glock is releasing is the G48 which has the exact same specs as the G43X except the G48 has a longer barrel length at 4.17 inches. The G48 has a magazine capacity of 10rds which is identical to the G43X, giving the user a full-size grip with just a longer barrel. Both the G43X and G48 come with front serrations and a silver colored nPVD slide. For all the Glock fans out there that wished Glock would come out with a single stacked handgun that offers a full-size grip, your prayers have been answered! *G48 (rear) and the G43X (front)* The second company that has announced a new handgun to their line up is ZEV Technologies or ZEV Tech. ZEV Tech is known for the custom Glocks and Glock accessories they make. ZEV Tech is finally proud to announce that their new O.Z-9 is the first complete 9MM pistol with everything built entirely by ZEV. ZEV said the O.Z-9 was designed and built for balance which they say is one of the first things you notice upon holding the firearm. This balance gives the shooter everything they would want, which is a controllable pistol that generates less recoil and muzzle flip. It allows the shooter to shoot faster and more accurately with follow up shots. Another feature ZEV is proud of is their steel receiver inside the O.Z-9 pistol. The solid steel frame runs the length of the entire pistol allowing the locking block to be fully integrated and its extended rails in the steel receiver help provide more than double the surface area of contact to the slide. Some of the benefits of this are the channels that clear out debris while also acting as lubricating reservoirs for high friction areas. Having a singular component for the slide to travel on minimizes vibration and recoil by dispersing it along the receiver through their custom grip. ZEV's custom grip on the O.Z-9 pistol gives the shooter a better grip with steeper angles and a forward hand position which keeps the muzzle down and pointing straighter. Magazines for the O.Z-9 are compatible with Glock magazines, which is also a nice benefit. I personally am very excited to see this pistol in person at SHOT Show since ZEV has always manufactured high quality custom Glocks. So, the fact they designed their own pistol built from the ground up is very exciting. *ZEV Tech's O.Z-9 Pistol* The last company that has announced a new product to their line up is Mossberg. Mossberg is known for their affordable and reliable shotguns which are used by many far and wide for home defense, tactical operations, hunting, or shooting sports. Mossberg is proud to announce though that they are releasing a new 9MM sub-compact pistol called the MC1sc. When Mossberg designed the MC1sc they designed it for concealment with its slim profile and rounded edges which allows a smooth snag free draw for the user. Fully loaded the MC1sc weighs in at 22 ounces and comes with one 6rd flush fit magazine and an extended 7rd magazine, both being clear and translucent. The MC1sc is equipped with a 3.4in barrel with an upgraded diamond-like carbon coating as well as the slide which has the same coating. Mossberg also equipped the MC1sc with a grip palm swell along with integrated aggressive texturing for a natural and comfortable feel in your hands while providing the user with more control while firing the pistol. Mossberg produces my favorite shotguns on the market so when I heard they were releasing their first semi-auto pistol I instantly became excited. This is another product I am really looking forward to seeing first hand while at SHOT Show and hope to shoot while at the Range Day. *Mossberg's MC1sc 9MM Pistol* I look forward to SHOT Show every year to be able to see what these companies have in store for the following year. So far these are the biggest releases I have heard of so far but can almost guarantee there will be plenty more releases once SHOT Show is underway. Once returning from SHOT Show I plan to write another article talking about some of the other new releases that were unveiled, and I hope to get to shoot some of these new firearms. |
